Continuing working on my YA style (Feedback Requested)
-
Hello! Welcome to another episode of me, looking how to adapt my illustration style for older audiences. Here is my latest WIP. I am looking for feedback on how I approached this piece. It's still at the linework stage, because I am afraid of doing a lot of rendering work, and then needing to go back to make changes
I played around with this drawing and took some liberties. The expressions are different on the lead character (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, with brown hair), because I felt that the illustration with his expression in the reference photo does not translate in a way that it conveys any specific or identifiable emotion. I also exaggerated and simplified some of the features on the girl to make her look less life-like and more stylized (RIP Michelle Trachtenberg).
How should I proceed with this stylization? Do you feel for YA it's a good start, or how should I approach this?
