Goodness, how long has it been since I first (and last) posted? Last november! Sorry about vanishing off the face of the earth there... but I'm back in the game, and have decided to tackle this month's contest! Here's the current sketch. It's still super rough, but I like where it's going.

When I think of the word independent, the first thing that came to mind was when I finally moved out of my parent's house. Getting out of the house finally was both really exciting, but man it can hit you like a train that you're truly going to have to stand on your own two feet from then on out. I want to capture that initial anxiety, but also the hope of starting with a fresh slate. Any advice is more than welcome!

@mountainjade I like the idea and I think it gives you room to play with the accessories and environment to really sell it. I wonder if you had tried a higher POV (looking more down on the scene)? this could really give that sense of smallness in a big world to the piece.

@WithLinesOfInk That's actually a great idea! Went ahead and skewed with the dimensions a bit and I like this angle a lot better, what do you think? I'll be redrawing the character with the proper angles of the body and such and adding some stuff like boxes and furniture.

Good idea and sketch. I like the tilt in perspective a lot.

Maybe she could carry a suitcase and have a truck for moving furnitures waiting for her.
