Up for a “contest” still?
-
@fauxtoddgraphy
Great idea! I was actually thinking the same thing.If you want a winner, we could just use the "up-votes" / likes to see which image gets the most votes.
To keep it the same as responses in other contest threads, it'd probably be good to allow voting for as many as you like (rather than trying to tell people to only click the up-vote arrow on the one image they want to pick for a winner--I don't think that would work for several reasons!).
"fauxcontest" Ha, Ha! Love it!

I'd love to participate!
-
@miriam That's a great idea with the multiple voting up-votes. Honestly I didn't want to be the one to pick a winner! haha
Let the "fauxcontest" begin! -
@fauxtoddgraphy
Seriously, that's probably the worst thing about any contest--having to choose a winner out of so many good things! -
One week left of May, hope to see some entries!

@fauxtoddgraphy
I am working on one. I hope you have one in progress, too! -
Here's mine.
Edit: I found time to make a few small tweaks.

Wasn't going to enter this month's competition, but decided to practice some more digital pencil sketching and whip something up last minute. I call it "a painting of a polar bear pretending to be a panda" (say that quickly!)
-
@gary-wilkinson Haha, I so love this idea. Execution is terrific, as usual.
-
@fauxtoddgraphy I like that way you think. Funny enough, I've been doing several b/w pieces recently. Thanks for thinking of it.

I'm in with my sword wielding witch!!

I really wanted to loosened up this month. This is looking more like a dark whimsical story! & perhaps needs a bit more before calling it an actual portfolio piece, but I had fun creating! Any crit thoughts on it is greatly appreciated! -Todd

@fauxtoddgraphy Love this!!

I just happened to be finishing up a black and white piece when I saw this. I posted it in another thread, but I'll put it here as well to throw my hat in the ring.
-
@johanna-kim thanks Johanna. Are we going to see something from you too?
-
Hey, all. I'll throw in this sketch in white ink on black paper just for fun.
-
@gary-wilkinson Yes, but I thought I'd push myself to do a new one. I attended a conference recently where I heard from an art director and literary agent that including a b/w section one your online portfolio is a good thing, particularly if you're interested in illustrated for middle grade books, which I am.

Update I was able to finish inking it, so here's the final version.
If anyone is interested, you can see my WIP here: http://forum.svslearn.com/topic/5913/may-fauxcontest-wip-critiques-welcome. I feel like I've grown a lot with this one!
Thanks again to @jon-anderson & @gary-wilkinson for your helpful critiques!
