SVS does Inktober 2018
-
I got a moleskine notebook all ready with each day labeled with the prompt. Woke up at 3:00 am yesterday thinking what I am going to do. I think I am going to theme mine with hands and faces.
I also made a project out of it and assigned it to my students. Mwahahaha! Now I have to do it. -

@missmushy This is awesome! I started a couple of weeks ago but then my whole life went crazy. So I seriously got ONE thumbnail done. Argh. I have this really cool project I have wanted to do since LAST Inktober. But I'm taking a live class here, and also I'm now putting stuff into a local shop and have art shows coming up. Ugh. Those are good things but I'm worried my cool Inktober thing may end up waiting ANOTHER year. We shall see....

@eli oh wow! sounds like a lot of great things on the go for you! congrats! completely understandable if inktober isn't doable. I took on 2 in person classes this fall and there is homework which for some reason I underestimated (of course). i am not sure if my Inktober attempts will be very impressive thinking some days it may just be a drawing of my morning cup of coffee but we shall see

Thanks for creating this post! I missed the last one as I was away a lot, but this year I'm really determined. Looking at the first half of the prompts got me fixed on the idea to do something around the topic of environmental issues. I've started sketching out the ideas, and uf, for some prompts I'll really have to do a serious thinking of how to fit them in the topic. Let's see what pops out in the end. I'm very curious to see what others do.

@missmushy Ha, I did coffee last year! But I was drawing so it was a success. Honestly, some of my drawings were horrible and some were ok, but I was really glad I did it. I feel like it definitely changed me for the better. It sounds like you've got a pretty full plate with taking on two in-person classes. Wow! That's awesome

I think I am sticking to simple animals (yes animals are not simple I realise, I mean no luxurious story plot and characters flowing from one to the other.) I have a small cute booklet, so I can keep it manageable. I want the everyday habit, nothing to overwhelming like I had planned prior to the "Fall" September prompt. And I have been drawing animals from my head with a few references as needed so I will continue that way.

I'm doing designy, ink inspired black and white nursery prints! Haven't started prepping either haha... I was bombarded with work the last 2 weeks, but I'm finally finishing that tonight so I'll have a 3 day weekend to brainstorm, thumbnail and sketch Good luck everyone!!
-
I have been working on my pencil sketches today. It was hard to restrain myself and not go ahead and start. I felt like that would be cheating. Soooooo I made end pages instead! I am pretty proud of it and my self control!

Thanks for creating this thread! I'll be posting character designs soon I hope. I want mine to be a story and I plan on dedicating 2 hrs a day to it
-
Oh man oh man oh man! Inktober is almost here and I'm not ready!!!
Could I maybe get some character design critique?
She's Lucina or Luz, I'm not sure yet. She'll be the heroine of my inktober project. She'll need to navigate a dreamscape after being poisoned in her sleep. She's supposed to be 7 or 8 yrs old. (This is digital but most of my inktober will be traditional)Also I learned I can't draw toes XD
Hope everyone else's preparations are going well!

Inktober has hit in Australia. Here is my first one. "Poisoned"
This is my first ever ink drawing for Inktober. It was definitely a challenge, but I really enjoyed exploring what I can do in a limited timeframe and with little to no experience using ink.
Like Jake says "better finished than perfect". While I can see there is definitely room for improvement, I am happy to have finished it.
-
@concept oh awesome! Just wondering how long did it take? I'm hoping to limit myself to 2 hrs a day because I'm slow
-
Hmm. I did some preliminary sketches a couple of weeks ago to figure out what I wanted to do. But this piece took about 2-3 hours, mainly because I had to wait for the ink to dry.
I don't think I could sustain that amount of time each day. I'm tweaking some of my other ideas for future days so I can get them completed quicker.

Iβm NOT planning to do the whole inktober, but Iβm in Sardegna at the moment, and in one of those rare time-bubbles where I can do outdoor sketching. And since my favorite sketching media (especially for nature) is ballpoint and marker, I thought Iβll post along with the serious inktober folks for as long as it lasts
Cork trees around Tempio Pausania. They hug the stones with their roots and are stripped of cork at this time of year, which makes them look very peculiar and eerie...

So awesome and so excited to be taking part in my 3rd inktober and looking forward to seeing everyones art. This year I'm drawing with a 0.1 staedtler Marsmatic fineliner. What am I drawing? Illustrations from a story I have written called 'If I were King King'.

Thanks guys, so excited to continue. Small and steady.

Hereβs Day 1 - imagined poison apples being delivered to evil witches across the land. Screwed up a bit but hopefully my technique will improve as the month progresses!

Excited to be doing inktober for the first time!

Day 1: Birch trees!
