      @heather-boyd woohoo!

Those blue cubes are so tasty looking, what did you use to do them? Love the texture.

Your shapes are always so very crisp and clean; really nice. I also love the paint splashes and what not on your desk ... looks like a proper artists desk πŸ™‚

Blue pencil crayons: a really old Canadian brand called Laurentien

Haha that texture is a combination of my desk and the 4H pencil I tried to erase afterwards.

Thanks, sometimes I clean my desk up and sometimes I leave it. I do likewise with my palettes. I have one from 1st year college loaded up with acrylic colours.

πŸ™‚ I am excited for the next January contest, I am hoping one of the two works that I am slowly working through will be a fit. I hope you will participate as well.

Your finished works are super detailed! I forgot to mention that. And your last posts on combining shapes have so much variety, I can get caught up in making things look like things and not just play around especially when I post things.

@heather-boyd So the texture was a happy accident? πŸ™‚ That's even cooler now πŸ™‚

I've not really looked into the contests, but you've got me curious now. Have you done one before Heather? Guess it could be a good way to practice some of the things from the studying sessions.

Here's a couple images from the past week,

lil Thumbnails from the Creative Composition workbook πŸ™‚

The current state of my assignment piece …
              alt text

It's the best I can do at the moment, drawing from my imagination feels like a complete reset and really highlights how much I need to learn, but I'm really enjoying how fun it is … especially the thumbnail phase. My digital skills are super limited at the moment, but I did it digitally as I knew I would have to rescale things and play with stuff, I sense I should maybe have stuck to pencil and focused on value instead, but I'm gonna finish the rest of the videos than come back and redo this πŸ™‚

              Some lilSOPHIE sketches
              alt text

I'm using lilSOPHIE as an excuse to practice using a brush pen πŸ™‚ I've also started playing with her proportions a bit, I think the other squished version of her will be a lil-lilSOPHIE πŸ™‚

Working on padding my portfolio with more kid lit type stuff. Trying to get a lot more practice with expressions and posture. Did these on my lunch break today. 0_1545249728357_girl.png

@heather-boyd the Base of the swivel chairs aren’t there. The camera I used is showing more highlights down there than there actually is. The base is pretty murky down there. I’ve switched the image to an alternate one.

When I started this two weeks ago, I intended it to be a Christmas picture of mice singing carols to an owl in the woods but because of the busyness of Christmas, I ended up just drawing an owl! Imagine mice below the tree singing carols πŸ™‚

@thiskatecreates I love making maquettes! What clay are you using? Chavant is good if you never want it 'baked' hard and want to rework the same piece of clay into different designs, and polymer clay like Sculpey is great for permanent projects.

@kylebeaudette I used some plain stuff I found at hobby lobby. It completely dried out within a few hours so my plan to repose and adjust the characters in reference to each other didn't work out. Maybe I can find chevant on Amazon. It was disappointing watching my first draft literally fall to pieces.
