Group run through creative environment design week 4 art and feedback

So many neat couches and huts and buildings 'n such!
This week is the videos 'tricks' and, if you can, the first critique video. I always find the critique videos really REALLY helpful. Don't skip 'em
Do exercise 7. I was thinking of doing 7 and 8, but I think slowing down a tad for the next couple of weeks is a good idea.
The point where Jake explains ALL the homework is at about the 50 minute mark in the 'reference' video.
Feel free to pop into the discord to chat! PM me if you need a link and instructions
Have fun! If you need to work at a slower pace, that's fine, too.
Post your objective building design study here! Remember, we're not making finished art. We're doing loose studies.

@Erin-Cortese erinnn these look greatttt
-
@Aleksey Thank you! You have been a big motivator for me during these exercises.
-
@Erin-Cortese aw shucks
Shout out to @Braden-Hallett though for organizing this.
-
@Erin-Cortese Wow. Those are REALLY well done.
Way to set the bar

@Braden-Hallett Thank you, and I second what @Aleksey said. That is probably the general sentiment from anyone participating, this is really great! Last night my husband said he is blown away at the progress I have made in the past two weeks, and that means a lot because he has seen my struggle and frustration up close over the past 6 months and I talk to him in detail about all of my work. I see it and feel it too, and there is no way I could have made this progress on my own. If you do another one of these, I am in for sure.

@JerrySketchyArt You certainly picked a challenging one! I'm gonna have to take a look at Jake's pinterest when I do mine.

Ok so I had a looot of struggles with this exercise. But I think after I flipped it (because Iโm a lefty) it was an. Bit easier. Something I figured out that works for me was after the shapes, when Iโm putting in the details, try to remember what kind of details go where and try to draw it from memory. Which I only did with half. Let me know if anyone has any critiques.
-
Exercise 7 and I might do a few more, the roof shape kind of caught me off guard, I thought I took the shape down properly and then I tried to fix it but I didn't pay enough attention to the shapes on these. I have a few more images to try. This has really helped me realize a lot of the details I overlook when drawing.
-
@Aleksey Wow! You did a pile of these. Interesting that you had to flip the image to feel right. Wonder what would cause that? Brains are weird!
-
@Aleksey Ok so this is exactly what I was talking about, this is why you motivate me! These are great! Iโm not sure if you posted these in the order you did them in, but I feel like there is really good progression in your shapes and how loosely you are able to work. You really managed to capture the character (for lack of a better word) in these buildings. Your effort is definitely paying off and it makes me want to work harder.
-
@Aleksey were these found on Jake Parkers page too?
-
@JerrySketchyArt Can you get me back on to Discord? I had an issue and had to make a new account.
-
@Heather-Boyd i think so. It might have also started that way and then i went down a Pinterest hole.
-
@Erin-Cortese aw thank you Erin, that means a lot to me. Especially right now thereโs a lot happening in my life that has been stressing me out.

I'll try to keep an eye out for you joining. You won't have to do the application again. If I don't get you back in quickly just post something in the pond to let me know it's you.

@Aleksey Sorry to hear that, hopefully your art can be an outlet or at least a distraction. Sometimes really leaning into the things that you have some control over in your life helps in coping with the aspects of life you donโt have control over.
