The quest for a good smudge brush (PS)
-
So maybe I'm a bit odd, but I'm on the hunt to find that perfect smudge brush for use in digital painting in Photoshop.
I can't seem to get something that gives me nice soft edges, or allows me to refine/push and pull in the way I want. Or something that gives a nice texture. Does anyone else have this problem?
As an oil painter I think i have less control over my tools digitally than i do traditionally, which seems backwards.lol.
SO....
if you have a go to smudge tool, share it below!
I'm posting a few i use, in hopes that it'll help someone out there with the same problem.

Try putting a slight jitter on your blend brush, then play with the flow as well. Clip studio has nice oil paint like blending.

Hi Sean! I’m really sorry but I don’t use a smudge brush.
-
I use it seldom, if I am drawing with watercolor brush and I had to stop drawing, there arise darker line on the contact, so I have to use smudge brush. I have these 3, but I use mostly this foliage smudge, I don't know how I made it...
But I don't know what u are looking for. -
@CLCanadyArts i will try that, thanks!
@Nyrryl-Cadiz no worries, thanks!
@MichaelaH thanks for sharing, sounds like the smudge isn't that popular for most people, so i may not invest a lot of time trying to make it work lol -
I don't use the smudge tool so much, but if you mean blender brushes, Kyle's "Round Angle Smooth Blender" and the "Dry Blender" are in my Favorite Brushes folder.
