AUGUST CONTEST: SUPERSTITION

Might as well be first!
My take on superstition. The medal won't really give him the courage to evacuate the island in front of the invaders. But maybe if he holds it tight it will. Inspired by the Netflix movie The Guernsey Potato Peel Pie and Literary Society.
I reloaded this after smoothing out the color pencil in PS. It looks great in person but did not translate well in pic form.

Here is my submissiiiooon!

I thought it would be interesting to take an old Native American superstition that we now think of as silly, and to put it into a modern context. If having your photograph taken can steal your soul, that's a terrifying concept in selfie culture.

Been lurking here for a while but I haven't posted anything yet. I wanted to give this one a try.

So, here is my submission for this month. This little witch is casting a spell on her cat to make her black again. Because witches are superstitious when it comes to cats; they have to be black

@Sofie-Schollaert, that is super cute!

One of my favorite parts of Batman's origin is his inner monologue where he says to him self "criminals are a superstitious cowardly lot" - So i decided to incorporate that with 3 of the best characters from his rogues gallery that could represent different superstitions.
I am new here so I hope you all like it!
-
@joe-kemp That is really nice! I love your comic line work and toning, and the concept in general. Great entry!
-
@joe-kemp Great take on this. So creative to include all the traditional superstitions into one with classic DC villains. Great job with the character art, too.

Here's mine for the month. The superstition is that a witch cannot fly through a diagonal window. (Not sure why she couldn't get in through all the other windows, or even the door...) This is pretty much limited to the Vermont area, so it's not a well-know superstition, but I really liked the idea.
