INKTOBER Pre show!!!
-
@chrisaakins I think that's a great idea. I'd totally tune in for that!
-
Last year was actually my first Inktober and I loved it!!!! My only struggle was getting myself to do it every single day and not have to have crazy long catch up days. Advice?
-
I usually do monsters from kids descriptions on facebook. We'll see how it goes this year. I have a lot going on. Last year I sent postcards with their monster on it in watercolor and ink. Maybe I'll do plain ink this time and they can just color them......
-
@TessaW here is a study sketch for the project. I am actually excited about this!
This is a deer mouse.
-
@ambiirae he looks a bit beaceroney lol . Cute anyhow . Looking forward to your sketches
-
@chrisaakins that's a super cute mouse! I have a mouse in day 1 but so far no where else. My stuff is all over the place in subject matter but I'm just happy to be getting something done. I think your adventures of several mice idea is interesting especially seeing as they're so cute!
-
@Coley thanks! I look forward to your pic. I have so many ideas now! And I wasn't sure I could pull off what I saw in my head. But I am pleased so far. Do you think black and white or color is better?
-
I don't know if I will follow the offical prompt, my plan is to learn something about painting with ink. Here is an experiment I was messing around today.

Hey y'all...I'm in for inktober this year.... (nail biting). But, in years past I've always become overwhelmed and burnt out. This year, I'm combining my desire to do some character design with the pressure of daily drawing. AND I loved @Braden-Hallett's idea of drawing through September so that I only need worry about inking each day. Also, I needed a theme: my art directing daughter (age 10) has been audiobooking through the first series of Percy Jackson. Which is the young adult stories for which I think my illustration style fits best. Speaking of style, I am also trying to channel my "influences" (read--I want my art to be exactly like) Wylie Beckert and Mucha. Here are some of my drawings....am I hitting my stated goals? Does it matter that I am disregarding the prompts completely?
-
@chrisaakins amazing!
-
@chrisaakins that's a hard one, the black and white still shows all the form and is super cute, but if I had to pick I think I like the color best! Not to take away from the black and white tho, it's great, hard choice!!!!!
-
@Nyrryl-Cadiz Nice! So will you be doing it as one whole piece as you go?
-
@Laurasketches these are great! I think a mythos inktober is a fantastic idea. It's always better when your own kids get to join in on the fun, too.
-
Excited for Inkotber this year! I've been in a bit of a slump so hopefully, this will help me push through, and come out a stronger artist.
I'm going to try and post my journey through Inktober in the forums. I'm a bit nervous though because I have not shared my work on here before.
-
@Laurasketches They look great. I never follow the prompts.
-
@Passion-Hart some people do pencil sketches before October and then they're all ready for ink.
-
Here are my three characters. Now to decide how I want to ink them. Ballpoint? Brushpen? Toned paper? Alcohol markers? Too many choices!!!
Here is Reb.
Here is Inky.
And here is Tobie or Toby. Haven't decided how to spell it. -
@chrisaakins The treatment of Reb is my favorite, but like all three! These mice are a lot cuter than the ones who invaded our house last year
Tobie sticks with me more than Toby (in a good way
)
-
@Judy-Elizabeth-Wilson great minds think alike!
I've also designed Halloween characters (it's October so it's gotta be Halloween themed!
) but they're acting out a story using the given prompts ...I was ill over the weekend and being stuck in bed meant I had nothing else to do than draw. So I drew all 31 sketches (I've chosen a small square sketchbook to limit ink space!) I'm now in the process of remembering how to use ink! Trying to come up with ways to add texture and shading in time for October...it's difficult!
I love you're little characters they would make fantastic stickers for children!
-
@chrisaakins I like the way you inked Reb the best too, but they're all wonderful. Super cute.
