The girl is taking the zebra for an adventure to/from a sky city when it starts raining candy. Am I right? ๐Ÿ™‚

The concept is so whimsical and cute. Who wouldn't love flying through a storm of candy?! Two things are standing out to me. Is the piece of candy on the bottom left attached to the lady bug or is it falling from the sky like the others? Just seems a little bit unclear. And then I'm wondering why the balloons are patched together? It seems like the little girl has this professional equipment (saddle, side bag, etc) so the hand made balloons seem maybe a bit out of place story-wise. I might be totally off base (I'm just starting out with narrative illustration) but that's my take. Apart from those things, and the pose as you mentioned, I think the piece is really great, would love to see it finished with all the popping and fun candy colors!

@j-sienkowski it took a while but is she picking the candies which are falling down like rain?

@ambiirae Thanks. Iโ€™ll work on the pose of the girl. Itโ€™s kind of hard to find good reference of children on horses ๐Ÿ™‚

@NelsonYiap You are correct. I was hoping it was obvious that the girl is catching and collecting the candy.

@lauramarie_art The lady bug is collecting the candy...maybe adding other creatures doing the same would help? My thought process with the balloons was that after venturing out several times in a candy storm they would have needed to be patched. Plus, I think the patches help added some visual interest to some boring circular balloons ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for your feedback.

@Nyrryl-Cadiz Thatโ€™s right! Do you think it would be easier to figure out if she was using a butterfly net to catch the candy?

@j-sienkowski I think it would be better if the lady bug would hold the candy and have open her back wings (I don't know how this is called by a bug, wings?) Maybe change little bit the girl, taht she isn't almost falling down the horse and the back feet are very realistic, but the front horse feet need more work. I love the horse expression. I am looking forward what color YOu will do this piece.
Alltogether it is very nice idea with the candy rain.

I can see it's raining candy, however, the pair are flying above the clouds! That makes it feel out of place to me. I like that the zebra is getting in on the sweets action, but maybe tip it's head up a little. Like when kids catch raindrops on their tongues. Also, if you made the balloons bigger they would feel more dynamic and fill in your space. Oh, that's a saddlebag full of candy isn't it? I just realized that, so maybe a couple detailed candies sticking out would help it read better. As for the patchwork balloons, just add a couple patches to the saddle blanket and you'll have continuity.
So cute. I can see this in rainbows of colors! ๐Ÿ˜Š

@j-sienkowski Oh I love that idea with balloons actually, it makes the piece that much more charming, good thinking!

@MichaelaH Thanks! The front legs do need work. Iโ€™m going do some more sketches using your lady bug wings out suggestion.
