Thought I'd jump on the sketchbook bandwagon and start with the piece I'm working on for this months contest prompt. I'll just keep any work updates here for the sake of organization!

So I'm not sure if this reads as so, but I'm currently working on a dragon theme as many seem to be, as well as using shadows creatively, maybe not the way to go? As of now I'm trying to convey that this elf girl in Adventure School has brought a dragons egg she "found" to school while two friends and a surprised teacher who was in the middle of a magic lesson look on. Meanwhile, a dragon is flying above the school, indicated by a shadow in the play yard outside the classroom. Does any of this come across in the sketch?

I'm worried I'm attempting something well above my ability and maybe with not enough focus on the story at hand as discussed in this weeks episode of the podcast. I'll admit I'm a bit stuck in my head too trying to steer far away from last months entry via what Lee was saying, that this should be more about an illustration and less a focus on graphic design.

I've got a sick baby this week and have been finishing up some client work, so hopefully I can get this done in time. Fingers crossed!
