      Hi everyone,

This month's SCBWI Draw This! prompt is "Blustery". Here's my take on it.
The first image that comes to mind is usually of a character out in an open field with the strong winds, but I really wanted to break from the box and tell more of a story.
I'm pleased with the concept but I'm not sure if I've done justice to it (composition wise and color wise). I sometimes struggle with creating indoor backgrounds. All the items I add to a room seem too forced to me.
      Feedback is welcome! TIA!

@Neha-Rawat I really like the concept! I think perhaps you could push the storytelling a bit further by being more specific about where the kids are. Right now it seems unclear and maybe that’s why you feel the background items are forced?
Is it a school room? If so then more educational charts around on walls. Book shelves would be more accessible to the kids etc. things like that. Look for references of similar locations

Is it a family room in a home? Then maybe there would be more homey type accessories.
Is it a birthday party or some other event that’s happening - then maybe the background show this. I think you just need more clarity on that aspect of the story.
The expressions are really fun on characters though - keep going! 😃👍🏼👍🏼

@Neha-Rawat Hello! Overall a very fun piece. I think you did the background well actually. The shadow from the door works/says enough to me. Which I think you executed very well. For me, maybe the wind streaks could be toned down a tad? Agreed that maybe a chart or a standing chalkboard could be added in to help locate them. I need to get on this Blustery prompt quick! Thanks for the reminder 🙂
