Kitbashing old models to make spaceships
-
@kylebeaudette I'm already looking online now. Going to buy a couple of kits.
I used to love making models. Haven't done it for years.

@kylebeaudette Star Wars was the first movie I ever saw in the theater. It blew my mind - I was four. I still have some action figures around here somewhere, and an X-Wing fighter.
-
Added a layer of hairspray, then a layer of blue paint. Scratch it with a wet brush, and the paint chips away. Then I added some rusty brown and orange paints. Going to paint up the cockpit, engine, add some decals, and sculpt a pilot

These are amazing. Love to see more of these.
-
Repainted and re-weathered, a different look. -
Made a pilot and have started to paint him. He's not very detailed, and that was on purpose. Now im not sure if the low detail guy works due to the high detail on the ship. Also, This yellow will likely go orange.
-
Those are excellent! I'm a big fan of making reference.
-
@kylebeaudette brings it to life having the pilot at the helm. Love it.

Good morning—
I’m fascinated by your kitbashed speeder and have a quick question for you—
What model did you use for the main body?
Thank you in advance for your response...

For anyone that's interested in learning more about doing this kinda stuff, I highly encourage a look at Adam Savage's TESTED One Day Build video on making a spaceship.

One thing I particular love about this is that you're looking at buying super cheap polystyrene sheets and you can literally make anything with about $10 in materials. This one of those things that I wish I had the time to do more of.
I really can't wait to see how 3d printing blows this whole thing open as well

This is a great idea! Thank you for sharing it! I also really enjoyed making models when I was 10-11 and I've done some assembliage, so I might just give this a try. I once made a dog from a mop, toy truck and a face mask, all from a dollar store.
-
@gfzen hey thanks. The main body was an apache helicopter, upside down and sawed off at the end.
-
Here's another. This was supposed to be a Star Wars ship. Many stages of building, priming, masking off areas, repainting, and finally adding 'grime'.
-
I really like your style—very visually appealing!!!
