Frustration - Help with way of working, please
-
@Rachel-Horne big improvement from the original I would say!
-
@Rachel-Horne It's really wonderful.
I think you listened to all the right advice because you were able to listen to yourself. It's everything I most enjoy about your work. The composition is so serene.

@Griff thanks! I normally work in mixed media and the digital thing is just a bit hard to translate for me.
-
@carolinebautista ah thanks so much; such a nice thing to hear - it’s true that it was overwhelming to get so much great advice and quite difficult to know what to take or leave
-
@Rachel-Horne I think I might start waiting a day before giving feedback; it would be more thoughtful that way. I have been trying to build up the skill of talking about others' work, and it has been a challenge...

Hi, Rachel. First is first. I LOVE YOUR DRAWING! ...Ok, look...Many times, we´re our worst, wrong/bad critic. That´s true!. So, I don´t believe you´re doing your artworks in a wrong way. It´s more a matter of "Am I´m having fun with this?", because you will always have the chance to improve your art. Always. But also is important to ENJOY what are you doing. Did I mention that I love your drawing?.
-
@carolinebautista I really appreciated your feedback
I see what you mean though, I've been thinking about it myself and I find it difficult sometimes to give feedback but I think it's probably an important skill to develop. Sometimes I'll look at people's work and not see anything wrong and then I'll read the other comments and realise I've missed something important. Please feel free to post feedback on my work anytime!

@Alvaro-Morales Ah thanks so much, that's really nice to hear

@Rachel-Horne I love your re-work. It is calm and beautiful, and whimsical.
I think you can do everything traditionally. But it might be smart to keep developing a digital way of making illustration or hybrid way. This is something I myself would love to spend time and digg a bit deeper this year - finding a traditional/digital hybrid way of making art. I consider doing some experiement of painting elements on separte paper, and put them together in photoshop - it is like collage, but doing the collage part digitally. -
@xin-li thanks
I like digital collage and think it works really well. I look forward to seeing your magic. I think you’re right about the mix of tradition and digital - I think maybe starting in traditional and then final touches in digital could be good...just need to keep working on it to find something that works best!
