It looks like your not drawing actual forms, just copying outlines.
Also your lines are really shaky which says your probably drawing from the wrist.

My advice would be to go to drawabox.com and follow the beginning assignments there. it'll teach you to draw frrom your shoulder. It hurts, but it's worth it.

@Frost-Drive To be fair, I think these specific exercises are not focused on form at all. From what I remember it's mostly about visual measuring/negative space etc, where you are pretty much just copying what you see. Form comes in a little later in this course. I do think draw a box is a great resource though.

@Benjamin-M Welcome! I hope you continue to share your assignments. Great job getting these ones done as they are particularly tedious to complete, imo! lol.

@Frost-Drive Drawing outlines is actually part of that drawing course... The student practices replicating shapes, negative space, and contour lines on different objects. At this point in the course, the student hasn't touched on form or shading, so he's not supposed to be doing you're talking about yet.

@Benjamin-M It is very clear you improve from project to project!! Your are starting to learn to draw what you see instead of what your brain thinks it sees, and that's a HUGE first step!! Good job!!

@Frost-Drive Lol, that's ok. I mean your observations were on point- as the assignment was pretty much about copying outlines and your recommendation was on point too, as the following assignments are about form!

Thanks! Drawing is something I always wanted to try, but I never really knew how to get started. I discovered SVS and decided to give it a try.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Doing these exercises gives me a whole new appreciation for all of the art I see on a daily basis.

So excited for you! It's great to finally jump into something that you've always wanted to try! I started playing guitar a few years ago... couldn't play a chord at the beginning but now I'm able to play the songs I enjoy to a decent standard. Keep at it and enjoy the journey - every step!! 😊
