Re: Organizing SCBWI Illustrator Meetings San Francisco-Bay Area (asking for ideas)

Hi everyone! My name is Elena, I have just recently moved to San Francisco and I am looking for other illustrator fellows to work together/draw/share experiences. In IL we had a monthly SCBWI illustrators meetings, which was a tremendous help for staying on track (thanks Rich Green!). I found something similar to this here, but not in the city.
I guess what I am looking for is to learn about other illustrators moving to a new city and keeping connections with work/friendships etc.

@Chip-Valecek and @Rich-Green that is amazing. LOL Wow, 3 illustrators from the same stomping ground! I moved out to the Phoenix are in '97 so I haven't been home in a long time.

Rich, my cousins went to Andrew and I also lived in Palos Heights after high school, went to MVCC and eventually went to NIU in DeKalb. What a small world : )

@gimmehummus You are quite welcome! I am glad to see that you decided to attend - I know you will get some great info out of it, even though it can feel a bit nerve wracking your first time around. I have found people to be so nice and helpful at these types of events, so I know you will be just fine!

@Andy-Meeker This is a lovely piece. The colours are perfect and I love the new cut cactus to add more perspective. there is one slight change I think may add to this. I hope you don't mind me saying. The girl with her hand over the boat - her has is a bit of a tangent, if it was out slightly and dragging the sand, as if it was water, with wake behind it. Just a thought. Awesome work.

@Nanette Hey that's great! Glad you are making the decision to be pro-active about it. It is great to actually get out and meet people for real, too.

I've joined thinking that I'd like to have a consistent portfolio ready by the time conference comes round in November...even if I don't go, having a target/deadline is helpful.
