Working on a poem my mom wrote when she was in elementary school that somehow got published in the newspaper.
In the morning it's so sweet
birds are going tweet tweet tweet
leaves are falling like the rain

Doing a digital rework of an acrylic painting I made for my nephew last summer, adding characters, trying to control focal points.

So cool to see so much projects in the works. I'm working on some general character designs focusing on head and body shapes for a picture book that a friend and I are working on. I'm still trying to figure out who this person is and if in fact it needs to be a person. So, exploring along.

Calling this one done and moving on I think. Feedback in my house is some of the 'story' doesn't make sense... but I'm happy with the rendering and am just going to walk away now...

@Valerie-Light Love this! The focal point is definitely on the characters, nice work!

So when I was a kid, my favorite pictures were always the ones that had tons of detail. So my personal challenge this weekend was to make a picture that had a ton of detail but to use color to give it a focal point. I picked monsters singing because I completely love to draw monsters and I saw a picture of children singing in a choir and I was completely in love with all their expressions and thought it would be fun to do a monster version, lol. Here is the sketch and the final color version:

@Tiffany-Thomas This is WONDERFUL! Awesome work.

I've done two more speed paints in the past few days. These are such a great way to just relax and unwind after a long day.
Also a good way to study color and composition! I deliberately use a big clunky square-ish brush so I don't get too lost in the detail!
Btw had to scale down in order to upload, hopefully these images aren't blurry

@Valerie-Light Thank you so much!!!

more of me working on controlling edges, establishing lighting, and maintaining focal points. I love this burglar bunny.
-
@Valerie-Light Haha, he's so wonderful in his little bandit disguise. Is he going for the "24 Carrots" book (hehe)? I love the implication of the lighting, that bandit bunny is caught in the act and he is definitely the focal point. Nice job!
