I like it with the old woman, but that's partly because I like seeing his head against the green fields instead of the blue mountains. This is looking great!
yeah, me too! It was originally designed that way so I think that's the way it's gonna have to be

@Braden-Hallett I agree that the older woman adds to the piece overall. Especially in the storytelling department
Cool cool! Thank you

Gettin' closer!

Nice work! I love how you approach coloring Braden. I think the old woman does add to the story but since it's a character design sheet she should not be the biggest character. My eye kind of goes to her first which is not what you want.
-
@K-Flagg thanks! i'm gonna try and fade the old lady back with dull colours and similar values to the environment.
-
Comin' aloooooooong
-
Fiddlin' with placement
-
My dnd character sheets are always filled with doodles. And since Sammy's kinda flighty, chaotic, and rarely stands still I'm hoping this adds some much needed business to things so it contrasts the calm illustration on the right.

Wow this is great. The cat playing with his tail and the llama are wonderful. I like the smaller lady, I feel like they are both looking at a location in the distance that she is pointing at.

Thanks so much! yeah I think the old lady further back works too -

@Braden-Hallett Love this!!Big parts of story telling on this one!!
-
@Braden-Hallett this is fabulous! I also doodle all over my D&D character sheets, and I feel like this added layer of pencil sketches really nails the character sheet concept down and gives such a great sense of what kind of guy Sammy is. Great work!
-
@Braden-Hallett He's so cute! I love his bag of marbles. Have you actually played him in a game?
-
@Braden-Hallett Wow this looks awesome! I love your character and all the doodles - he feels so alive! I also like that in in the main image it feels as if the immensity of his quest has just dawned on him - he looks worried. The old woman's words probably aren't helping - it's a lot for a small Tiefling, even with a battle llama.

my dnd sheets become little rages within 2-3 sessions. I've tried keeping scratch paper and sketchbooks, but it just doesn't work!

Oh goodness, no. I'm much more the handlebar mustache elderly barbarian or halfling thief with no social decorum kinda player

Especially when the 'battle' llama is known for watching impassively and farting silently (but incredibly deadly) and not much else.

WOW! This thread and your process is so amazing! Inspiring! I love this piece!
