Fairy tale traveler wip

Hey all I was completely stoked to not be doing another yeti themed prompt so I got started right away. I’ll admit this doesn’t really seem in my wheel house but I am going to still go about it as if were for a picture book and do my best, this was my first character sketch and I really like it I may still play around with other designs but I immediately connected with this girl maybe because she reminds me of my daughter lol. As always feedback is welcomed.

@Asyas_illos Hi , it is great character. Consider making the bag to be on her other shoulder and the bag strap standing on her chest.
-
@Dima-Eichhorn i know! it was my first thought to have it crossing her chest but then I thought it might be too cliche? I don’t know I still may end up trying it out again lol thank you!
-
@Asyas_illos Maybe it is a cliche but it is practical, especially for a traveller .
try it, not necessarily to leave it to the final stage.
-
A little more progress...yes I gave her an animal sidekick lol, also cliche
lol
-
@Dima-Eichhorn ok I like it
-
I just can’t help it when I start feeling a piece I literally can’t stop!
-
@Asyas_illos I really am in love with the chipmunk. !!!!
-
@Dima-Eichhorn he’s kind of a little show stealer isn’t he!

Gotta get going on the close up next! Any thoughts how I could improve anything?

@Asyas_illos She's really cute, Asya! I like the head to body proportion that you chose for her, and I think you're on a great track. I think you could maybe go further with the design of her accessories to give more hints about what kind of world she lives in. Maybe it's the shape of her knife, or a pattern on her bag, or some special tool that would make sense in her environment. Also, you could show some more character by making sure the facial expressions of the 3/4 front pose and the running pose are a bit more different from each other.
-
@Valerie-Light thank you for the helpful feedback I had done a little adjustment to faces since my last post, but thinking I may have her looking backwards. Also gave her another accessory necklace ,I had thought to put more detail into her poncho in the more detailed stages. Here’s where I am at now.

She is from a treetop dwelling village so I’m still trying to figure out how to incorporate more of that into her design. I feel like the leaves and twigs in her hair is a good start but you’d still never know just based on that that she lives in the trees. Maybe I’ll change her pendant to an acorn...?

She's really great! I love the chipmunk. I'd love to see more gear. We had this elfin nymph-like photographer at our wedding. She was very slight of frame but had this oversized photography gear bag slung across her chest and hanging from her waist. She looked incredibly cool. I think that's the direction I'd take it.
-
@Katherine that sounds super cute I can picture it my mind but I think my gal likes to travel light maybe I can think of a few more trinkets to hang on her though like a canteen or pot. Give pip a little knapsack lol
-
She's really cute! I think the idea of naive but stouthearted really comes across. I was thinking about her being a tree-dweller and maybe her hair could have actually have leaves growing out of it? Although I guess once you get to the colours and patterns that will echo her native environment anyway. And I love Pip! I've been giggling over his little toot as he sits on her shoulder. Maybe she should be holding her nose?
-
@ruth thank you so much! Yes hopefully she’ll come together more as I move forward. I’ve been playing around with her expression to match his action a little more
the little stinker

@Asyas_illos Pip so so cute!

@miranda-hoover thanks!
