      Hello all,

Like some of you, it has been a while since I participated in any of the SVS contests/challenges due to many time constraints related to work. When I saw this Month's prompt, however, I could not resist coming up with my own take on it (I was a huge DND fan growing up).

At any rate, my protagonist's name is Eldritch which means strange or unnatural especially in a way that inspires fear : WEIRD, EERIE." Eldritch is a half-elf whose origins are obscured by some unknown force. His halcyon days are upended by the sudden appearance of a faerie named Alethea (meaning Truthful) whose mere existence shatters his limited world view. Their journey to recover the fabled touchstone is fraught with danger and tragedy, but their friendship encourages Eldritch to confront the fears that seem to have originated from his past.

So far, I have found it extremely difficult to craft an original story. I see heavy influences from the Ocarina of time in my pairing of a youthful elven like male protagonist and a fairy. Additionally, the illustration styles don't match at this juncture. I will do my best to put some more thought into this one if time permits.

Thank you to all who took time to read, comment, critique, or like this post. Best of luck to everyone!

Love this work. It's got this Ralph Bakshi vibe to me. Wonderful.

This is so lovely and detailed. The only thing I notice in your design is that the sword in the view from the back shoul be tilted the other way. The hilt should be above the right shoulder. I can't wait to see this finished.

Such a cool design! I love all the facial expressions you drew up. Really gives a sense of who the character is.

@Jacy13 Thank you, Jacy! It is so fun to explore how a character's design gets translated into a distinct set of facial expressions. I love seeing how everyone breathes life into their respective characters too. Will you be participating in this month's challenge?

@K-Flagg You have a keen eye! I totally missed that fact! Thanks for helping me see that discrepancy. By the way, I really liked the character designs you explored too. So much spunk and depth to your characters attitude.

@notfitkid 😃 he is a animator. He animated the Lord of the Rings movie back in the late 70's.

@SheerArt Ah! I was born in the late 70s and vaguely recall that 2D animated adaptation. So cool to be able to put a name to the Director/animator

                        Yay fellow DND faaaaaaan!

Looks awesome to me. Loving the Legend o zelda vibe.

What's his armour made of and what's he wearin' underneath it?

@Braden-Hallett Totally! ^__^ I wonder if it had something to do with growing up in the 80s. So glad that I get to share it with my two boys now. BOTW is probably the first video game that ever elicited a "Ratatouille" moment for me, and I have to admit it probably influenced my design a bit too heavily now that Ive taken a day to re-examine my design choices. Id say he would be wearing something breathable and light weight underneath the armor (but a little too form fitting). I added the loincloth hoping to address the uh more sensitive areas, but I am starting to think it draws more attention there! Thanks again for the feedback!

@notfitkid Yup, yup! I sure am joining in. 🙂

I'm creating a character that I actually was already in the midst of planning to create a whole comic project for (this month's challenge fit perfectly). I will be posting updates about it soon!
