So orange is my favorite color, but it is an intense color... I think it muddled out the colors on the last sheet. Switched it to a grey with a hint of blue. It allows the colors to stand out nicely, without a blinding white background.. Better?

@CLCanadyArts I would love to see something in between. I agree that the warm colour you have is a little much (I think it's too low in value?) but it adds some life. It's also something that seems to fit better with the character.

Have to tried a warm grey or less-saturated orange (maybe a little lighter and closer to yellow?)

Green didn't look good.
I think the yellow looks really nice, "sunny" bight, cheerful, while still allowing all of the other colors to stand out. The only reason I like the orange and grey better, is the hair stands out more.

Think I'm going to go for this one. The hair still stands out, but the bg still has color. it's much more muted than the original orange.
