I can't get enough of Jillian Tamaki's Our Little Kitchen. I love her characters and line work.

It’s not about cooking, but it is about food. Sophie’s Squash is charming and got a lot of kids to like squash.

“Julia, Child” by Kyo Maclear and Julie Morstad isn’t really a biography of Julia Child, but imagines her as a kid who loves cooking with her friend.

Stone Soup one of my childhood favorites! And Bee-bim Bop, we are part Korean and my mother got this for my kids a couple years ago, very cute and delicious!88285E9B-5668-43F0-AA59-037833ADB20E.jpeg

@Neha-Rawat there are SO many, and you've gotten some great recommendations already!

                Here are a few more:

                • Bilal Cooks Daal by Aisha Sayeed
                • Amy Wu and the Perfect Bao by Kat Zhang
                • Fry Bread by Kevin Noble Maillard
                • Gazpacho for Nacho by Tracey C. Kyle
                • Armadilly Chili by Helen Ketteman (and illustrated by SVS's own @Will-Terry)
                • Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin (which isn't really a cooking book, but does have lots and lots of tacos ... and salsa)

                Hope these help! 😊

@Neha-Rawat. I recommend Whopper Cake by Karma Wilson and Will Hillenbrand as an oldie and a goodie. Belly laughs from my kids and from my preschool class.

Also Thank You, Omu. This one came out a couple of years ago and it is beautifully written and illustrated. It was a debut book for Oge Mora And it is a gem! d6eee7d3-963b-481e-8381-bd17489a5731-image.jpeg

These are the top two that come to mind for me that have not been mentioned.

Happy reading. It looks like you have several good titles to peruse. https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/A1Wto5hsUrL.AC_UY218.jpg

                    Hi Neha,

Do you need a story about stories that evolves in the kitchen over a long period of time, such as a few months, or a short period of time such as one afternoon or one day?

Wow! So many great suggestions! Thanks everyone!

@Jeremy-Ross I did NOT see that story progressing the way it did! 😆 It was so unexpected! I loved it! Thank you.

@Valerie-Light Your'e absolutely right! I love how they've used the space of the page for different scales and perspectives within the same spread. This is a brilliantly designed book!

@RachelArmington I came to know of this book just last week when I was listening to Jacqueline Alcántara's talk for SCBWI! She's wonderfully married cooking and history with her illustrations.

@Kevin-Treaccar "Charming" is indeed the perfect way to describe this. So lovely and light hearted. Thank you for sharing!

@LouD I love the minimal style and color palette of this book. So simple with effective storytelling.

@Asyas_illos I love the different perspectives and crops of the mother in "Bee-bim Bop" so as to keep the visuals interesting. I think this is very much what I was looking for. Thank you!

@Melissa-Bailey-0 Wow! Thanks for the amazing list! I've only read the first 2 so looking forward to reading all the rest! 🙂

@JennyJones I loved Whopper Cake. So funny (and yummy!). I'm totally craving cake now! 🤤
I came across "Thank you, Omu" sometime last year and I loved it! Such a heartwarming story and so beautifully illustrated. Thank you for reminding me of it again.

@idid I'm open to looking at both for inspiration! But the story I'm working on spans a short period.

Boy Soup, can’t remember the author but illustrator was Michael Martchenko
There’s a Max Spaniel book where Max is “cooking” pizza but I forget the name of the book, author illustrator David Catrow!
