@ajillustrates aww, thanks so much! Yes, there are a TON of pug books already out there, so I have to make sure this character isn't too close to Pig the Pug, Puddle Pug, Pug 'n Chick, etc. -- all of which are absolutely amazing character designs! You've given me hope that I'm headed in the right direction. (This guy is a little too animated for the book character, who is laaazy!)

Hi Everyone!!!! Here are a couple new ones. Putting characters in environments is super challenging for me so I'm forcing myself to do it, lol. Both are watercolor with digital enhancements.

A sketch of aliens in rush hour:

Amazing @Melissa-Bailey-0! The precision is spot on with your memory, well done! Are those snickerdoodle cookies? Yumm!
-
@Jeremy-Ross thanks!
Yes, Iβm thinking theyβre snickerdoodles β didnβt want to make the cookies too dark or they would be mistaken for chocolate and then Iβd get a ton of comments about how you shouldnβt feed chocolate to dogs. Wanted to avoid that if possible!

Hi Everyone,
I am working on finishing up a self publishing project. Anyone use IngramSpark? I am new to the self publishing pod market. Thoughts?
Kim
Also, working on teaching for a small art studio in Randolph, NJ. Lots of fun to come up with projects for kids Pre-K-3rd grade. -
You make placing characters look easy @Tiffany-Thomas!
-
@williammeany love this. Reminds me of the Arrival of Shaun Tan
-
@Melissa-Bailey-0 thank you so much π₯° experimenting on style so that means a lot
-
@Jeremy-Ross Haha, thanks! I had to cut and move them around in the latest one but I've never drawn a room with multiple people in it, haha. I'm literally amazed at how long I've been avoiding backgrounds

The making-of process of Pandan Ice Cream is pretty cool.
-
Gotta be super comfy

Back to my never ending quest to try to finish last years Inktober
-
@donnamakesart Thanks! Shaun Tan is one of my favorites!
Here's the more refined painting -- finished for now:
-
Just a warm up with our lovely Mario!!

Another watercolor speed sketch -- I set my timer for 10 minutes and drove left-right-left-right etc. every time there was an intersection (which in our rural area wasn't often) and then as soon as I could find a place to pull over, sketched what was there. This is a study in brain tom-foolery: The first is what I painted of what I saw and the second is a quick photo I took before I left. You'd think it was two different places!

Well, I got nothing fancy to show, but wanted to be a part of it, so, here goes...
I started the svs foundation curriculum 2 and a half months ago. I am in the 3rd course, Visualizing Drawing In Perspective, and taking some time on it since this was always my biggest difficulty in drawing. So basically, sketching different drawings in several perspectives (I do 2 to 3 pages like this for each. I have difficulty keeping the proportions between the sketches, but one thing I'm loving is that by drawing the objects several times helps me understand the object better as I go.
Still a long way to go, and will probably come to the forum for some help soon, but am definitely enjoying and evolving

Another 1920s character design...I think I might use this as inspiration for a little girl dressed up as a pilot

Have an awesome weekend everyone!
Cannot get tired of drawing Garfield.
He,asterix and songoku is the reason I am drawing to this day. -
@Georgios-Christopoulos awesome- I saw The Twelve Tasks of Asterix when I was a kid. Definitely had a big impact on me.
