Boots or no boots? That is the question…

I am getting conflicting advice from two respected artists. One thinks boots is better, the other thinks the original was better.
What say you, O great forum?

@chrisaakins I like the boots! If you go with that one, maybe add some shadows around the bases of them? I like this very creative take on the prompt.

I like the boots too! They add so much to the character. Have you tried making them bright and glowing also? I think the dark contrast disrupts the shape of the star a bit. Great painting, so funny.

@chrisaakins I'm going to go against the current and say no boots. I like the shape of the star and I think the boots are implied. I also like his foot going back.

My gut reaction is 100% yes to the boots. But now I’m not so sure, both are good

I decided to keep the boots but lighten them up and add spurs. I think the look is just right now. Thanks for all those who gave me an opinion.
