Hey! So I’m not sure if I’ll actually have time to finish this before it’s due, but I’d like to give it a shot 😃 Here’s the rough sketch so far. I was thinking about the phrase “lucky duck” and just went from there:

I’m curious to know whether this reads strongly enough as “lucky” or if anyone has any ideas to amp up the concept? The intended story is that a duck-obsessed little girl gets a special visitor. So inspired to see everyone else working on their pieces!

Took another look at it this morning and thought making the duck play in the puddles might make it read as if the duck itself is lucky, while making the girl looking over the edge of the tub feel more ominous 😂 I’ll probably start tightening the sketch up later tonight.

Humm... Love the character and composition but the story isn't that clear. Is the duck on the floor real as opposed to he rubber duckies in the tub? Is he a lucky duck cause he isn't in the tub? I do wonder what the kid is going to do with the stars in it's eyes.

It will be great to see how you work this.

@KatrinaF Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, the one at the bottom is supposed to be a real duckling, though admittedly I haven't pulled out any reference yet 🤣 I tried to post an updated version yesterday where the duck is happily playing in the puddles unaware of the girl watching him, but for some reason all my posts are getting queued for approval right now and it hasn't gone through yet? Not even sure if this reply will work, actually 😅 Might need to message an admin to see if I can get recognized as a real non-spam person...

I don't quite connect the work "luck" to it right away, but I can see where the connection could be drawn. The view point makes me relate to the real-life duck the most, so the strongest feeling I get from it is "uh oh, someone is obsessed with ducks and that is worrisome for me, as a duck". It is a really fun image though. It feels menacing, but also funny and cute. Curious to hear how others interpret it!
