Storm WIP!

Hey Everyone!
I’m excited to try out this month’s critique arena challenge! I’ve pared my ideas down to two, and I’m having trouble deciding what to go for. What do you think?
Idea #1:
A kid selling rubber duckies in a rainstorm.
Idea #2:
A storm shaped like a giant snail looming over a defiant city… of salt shakers. 🧂 Definitely feels different and riskier, and I want to work on the POV and zooming in a little more on the highlighted figure. Compositionally, it feels trickier to get right and isn’t as classically cute as the first option, but maybe it’ll pay off?…

Both are very unique ideas I haven’t seen other people posting similar things to yet! It has often been said that “cute” does best in Critique Arena, given the specific audience, but if you have time to develop both enough to submit, it might be interesting to see which one (if either) gets chosen by the judges!

@Sarah-VanDam I am a huge fan of that kid with those ducks! I don't know your rendering preferences, but honestly that one looks done to me!
-
@Valerie-Light I agree, the one with the ducks does look like a finished piece already!

OMG I just laughed out loud when I saw the kid with the ducks. That image is telling a fun story of some one making the best of it in bad weather. Excited to see if you are going to develop this a little bit more even though it is looking good. Way to go!

@Sarah-VanDam I like the first one best, but you are allowed to enter as many images as you wish, so, if you have time finish both. If you want a second entry, you need to email Austin to let him know.

@Sarah-VanDam LOVE this concept ~ so unique and clever!! I actually like the POV here but perhaps more of a worms eye view instead of straight on, so the snail is larger, takes up more space compositionally, and the city is scaled down. More emphasis on the snail and its facial features (ha ha do snails have faces?) as it looms over the city in a creepy/scary/frightening way.

Do both!

@Sarah-VanDam Definitely Duckies!!! It's nice to see a joyful piece for this prompt.

Thank you for all the feedback and suggestions!! I’m really new to the forum here and still trying to figure out how to really dig in and contribute, but I’m looking forward to being more a part of this.
