      Hi all,

I have been working on this little guy for over a month trying to get him to a point where I feel he belongs in a childrens book. I believe I am pretty close, but the critic in me can't move forward. This is just a personal project borne from an online character prompt on IG. Does he look like the same character from sketch to sketch? I welcome any feedback that might get me past myself and able to clean this guy up for my portfolio.
      Thanks!!

Your character consistency is looking good but I think you could push your silhouettes more. I did a little draw over to show a few poses where the silhouette could be pushed to create more emphasis and clarity. Hope this helps! C4C0FB83-5A3C-4CCB-9FA5-8CBD86785232.jpeg

@tom-barrett He's adorable, little guy reminds me of my son in little league baseball, hahhhaaa the pose where his face is in the air crying his little heart out. Such a great concept. I love his little personality. @Griffin-McPherson Love your draw-overs. I see how this works, I can see how pushing the silhouette makes the exaggerated emotions so much easier to read.

@tom-barrett yes @Griffin-McPherson is on point with the gesture! If you didn’t get a chance to watch there’s a new video of a livestream the guys did called how to fix your art. It was all about gesture.

@tom-barrett I love your character! His facial expressions are great.

I like the draw over changes that Griffin suggested.

@Asyas_illos Yeah, I had to miss the live stream due to an event at my daughter's school at the same time. And I forgot about watching it later. Thanks for the reminder and link!

@Asyas_illos YES! I loved this video. So very helpful... and so simply broken down, helps hardwire good practices. Love the idea of the flour sack. Is this the video you were referring to?
