Hey SVS, it's been a good while. Here is an SCBWI text I was given to illustrate. It is project that will be featured at the libraries in Montana. What do you think?

      Watch me yawn.
      See me stretch.
      Then
      I prowl.
      I stalk.
      I roam.
      I’m a house tiger,
      chasing mice or
      chasing your toes.
      You can’t catch me.
      I’m climbing low,
      climbing high,
      darting to and fro.
      Hear me MIAOW
      See me arch.
      Watch me pounce.
      I am ferocious!
      I scratch.
      I hiss.
      I scurry.
I zip and zig and zag.
      I am strong
      and ferocious
      until….
      I yawn
      and stretch
      and
      I wiggle
      into your arms
      and purr
      and purr
and nestle next to your heart.

@Eric-Castleman I like the jungle surroundings mixed with the living room setting. It clearly conveys the message that this lazy house cat fancies or dreams himself a bit more. Am I right to think the light is turned off and not a light source here? Maybe it could be a light source to give it a more cozy feel of the cat sleeping in his chair?

          @Chantal-Goetheer thanks for the comment.

My wife said the same thing, but I worry that since the snake is the closest to the lamp it will force the focus on the snake and not the cat.

@Eric-Castleman yeah true I get that. Could you turn it in a different type of light? We have one of those tilting standing lights? Or is that too complicated?

This is so lovely! The aesthetic is gorgeous.

In my opinion, I like the lamp as is. It tells you that this is a home-y setting, without drawing attention away from the cat.

                @baileyvidler yeah that’s the challenge.

Well I’m glad that the main issue is what my wife and I have gone back and forth on with this piece. Means I’ve narrowed it down to one thing haha. Thank you all for your input.

Hi @Eric-Castleman, this is a lovely piece!

Have you tried to remove the lamp to see if the composition is better balanced? I feel the piece is a little heavy on the left, but could be just me.

I did a quick crop as an example.
