So much great work on here.
This was my entry for the second picturehooks competition this month.

@Kristen-Lango it looks beautiful! What did you use for materials?
-
@von_Nimmermehr what a great idea to illustrate your own christmas cards! Never again looking at what is in the shop and thinking , hmmm. Hadn't crossed my mind. We usually use a family pic. Need to remember for next year.

@Chantal-Goetheer Thank you! I first use water soluble crayon and pencil (so a watercolor base) and then I go in with wax based colored pencils (prismacolors) for additional layering and details
I'm very open with posting about my process and how I make my work, you can see some of that in this video: color charting a piece
I also have other videos on how to use carand'ache crayons
Hope this is a help to you! -
Sheep unions have ruined countless people's sleep!

XD i have no Family (Husband and children) so i guess it would be awkward to send pictures of myself as Christmas Cards. But i love to send my own Cards so it seemed pretty obvieous to me, to just draw them.
i have been doing this for 4 years now, and the feedback is so so sweet. And my Friends keep the Postcards and frame them.

@Kristen-Lango thanks!! I'll certainly check that out.

The original plan for the 2nd week of exploring illustration as a career was to purely focus on the human anatomy - recognizing landmarks, memorizing bone structures and muscles, and proportions. But to my delightful surprise, I received my first paid commission The deadline was a bit tight as the client requested a Christmas drawing of her mom with the client's two kids (Grandma with the little ones).
I haven't drawn something cute and warm in years but I could not turn down a request like this. The illustration needed to convey warmth, love, and happiness - a precious moment of sentiment that accurately represents the joy one has with with loved ones. This has been a difficult year for many and I can sense the client wanted something special for her mom. So I communicated almost on a daily basis with the client and her husband on brainstorming, progress, and feedback. It was such a fun and exciting experience to partner with them in making something meaningful.
On Christmas morning, I got a text from the client - she attached a picture of her mom holding the framed print of this illustration with tears on her face - smiling. It was truly touching and I felt incredibly honored to be part of this moment. My prayers and hope for her and all our loved ones - to be filled with strength, comfort, unity, and hope ļø

@Mewie That's the best feeling, seeing someone respond this way to your art! Great job!

Cleaned up my Wizard of Oz book cover mockup for my portfolio.

Book cover sample for a Picturebook Dummy Iām working on.

@Jeremy-Ross it looks great! Love the colours. Looks like a book I could buy. At first glance the ax blade of the tin man looked like Dorothy's foot and it seemed odd. On closer inspection I understood it was the blade. Maybe her dress could be more seperate from the ax. I like how the characters look at each other or somehow are connected. The lion seems more seperate though.
-
@Jeremy-Ross another great cover! The red catches the eye and conveys the disaster part well. The cat gets a bit lost. Had to look a bit for the disastrous pet.
-
I have been drawing more horses and ponies. I really like drawing them.

Fun day in the snow here in Colorado
