@lee-white how do you upload your image? I've never done this before and would like to add to this challenge..

@jrbeans Click on the little cloud-with-up-arrow icon in the text menu. You probably want to make sure that your image isn't too big. I'm not sure what the size limit is specifically, but probably not much over 1000px at the longest side or to exceed 2Mb or so in file size. Also, a jpg is probably the best for file size, rather than a png,

Here is a screenshot to show you the button:

@katrina-fowler The story in this is so great! I also just love the pen/linework; it reminds me a bit of Lee's! The energy in this is also compelling, and the composition is fun and engaging. I think the only thing I'm missing is a bit more specific lighting to help lead the eye.

As for your personal dilemma- let me tell you you should keep making art. Get a full-time job if you have to, but keep making art. Don't be too hard on yourself, do it when you can. But you have a lot of real skill here and I really hope you don't give up.

I lost my salaried job in video games last year and, despite being in NYC ("You can't NOT get a job there!") I have been applying for art-related work for 13 months to no avail. Then my husband lost his job as well. So, now I'm working full-time in retail (pittance pay, no benefits) and part-time at a construction site, and take on the occasional freelance gig here and there. If I get one finished illustration a month done, I consider that an achievement. but I, like you, can't seem to part from my creator ways. At this point, I'm not expecting to catch my "big break" anytime soon, but every small thing I create I make with a purpose. I'm doing my best to get lots of direction from friends and mentors, and hopefully by the end of this year I'll feel comfortable sending out new postcards/mailers with a slightly better portfolio to show off.

Life happens and it will beat you down, and it's important to take care of yourself. You can't make art if you're starving or living out of a car. But when you can, and if you think it will help make your life a little bit better, please make art. We clearly enjoy seeing what you make.

@jose-ramos Love how your color scheme turned out - it really invites the viewer into the setting, wanting to know what's in the house, what's really going on, etc. ...Wonderful!

Hi guys! This is my first entry. I’m super excited. This was done with watercolor first, then finished on Procreate. I am 17 years old and I welcome critiques! 😃

Here’s the backstory to my illustration… The treehouse belongs to a wizard family. The mother homeschools their five children. They don’t attend a regular school because the walking tree carries them from place to place so the father wizard can perform community service through wizardry. The tree is named Topiary.

                                Hey all,

So, this is my final entry :).

It's the treehouse of little Carlos, whose family lives on the junkyard his father works on. Even though they are poor, they are a happy family utilizing anything they can find on the yard. His father made this treehouse for Carlos, just to give him something for his own: a nice little retreat in which Carlos spends his time reading (and learning from) books found at this junkyard which makes him feel like the richest boy on the planet. And sometimes a kid just wants to swing...

Here is my finished piece. I changed a few things from my earlier version. I added a third 'level' via the bucket and a third creature - the bird, and I gave the bear a book and changed the snail completely because of issues I was having with his position and form, I also added the flying pennant streamer. Most importantly I addressed the perspective issue with the bottom of the tree that Will kindly mentioned. Thanks for the help Will, I am very glad I continued to work that out to a better final piece.0_1498486756834_TreehouseLargeFiniMini2.jpg

@misty-mckeithen I dig the addition of the pennant. It adds a bit of energy and adventure to this otherwise peaceful and pensive piece!
