Hey everyone! WIP This is a piece I did for the 50 things workshop during the summer, and I'm just now getting back to it. I'm pretty happy with the overall layout and color scheme. Wondering if the lighting is working though. Also I've been working on trying to keep my painting a little more lose... less digital. But I'm not sure if that worked here.

I keep wondering if children's books are really the right direction as I keep making things like this because I love it. Do you think this could work in that market or should I try to get my style more traditional?

Any tips or thoughts? I'm welcoming critique and suggestions.

@bharris long time no post, welcome back 🙂 Great piece. My suggestions would be to make the upper right a little darker to pull your eyes toward the characters. Also maybe change the color of the shirt on the boy sliding down the gold. Fun piece.

Thanks @Chip-Valecek, I was working two part time jobs which added up to no creative energy. All taken care of now though!

I will darken that corner, good suggestion. I was struggling with his shirt color too, will defiantly change it.

This is wonderful! This reminds me of something I would see in an illustrated middle grade novel! Great work!

I'm adding a spider. I think it completes the story better. I'll post when it's done!

@Will-Terry Thank you! This will really help a lot. I have a tendency to perfect everything, but those examples are spot on.
