Hello - New arrival here

Hey Everyone
I joined the site about a week ago and have been utterly inspired. I love the lessons, the light hearted chat of the tutors, and the no nonsense , 'Hard work equals results!' thinking and attitude.
I have always loved art and drawing but I am still very much a happy beginner. I gratefully welcome anyone who takes to the time to ask questions, and make comments and critiques. I do not feel qualified to critique myself; I need to learn more about the numerous disciplines of the craft before I could offer anything of value or use sadly.
I hope to contribute to the community as I am able, and work on my draughtsmanship, colour theory and composition.

Welcome to the forum @Nightseye. I never feel that I am qualified to critique anyone work instead I would like to consider it as an opinion sharing and maybe that will help someone like us learners here. Hope to see your stuffs soon.

Welcome, Nightseye. It sounds like you've got a good attitude and are excited to get started. You're very lucky to be a beginner and to start off with such good resources and opportunities. And as Naroth said, don't be afraid to jump in.

Don't worry about your experience in terms of critique. Sometimes just agut feeling is all that is needed. Sometimes I show a drawing to my 5 year old kid and he will say something like "that doesn't look like a dog" and then I'll look at it and realize he's right! So if he can do it, anyone can!
Norman Rockwell often said that when his wife says she likes the painting, he knows he is done. On paintings where he continued painting after her advice, he said he probably should have stopped earlier.
So, we all come to the table with valid thoughts and reactions, even if we can't draw or paint as well as some can.

@Nightseye welcome! You don't have to critique yourself, we will do it for you! whahaha! Just kiddin' its really fun here. And my experience is that its totally safe.We all know how much effort there is in every piece of art, and thats why people have respect for each other, and represent that in their critics. And its lovely to meet people from so many different places and backgrounds.
