Hi, everybody! I've been currently working on a piece but I'm still not sure if I'm going to use it for this month's prompt FEARLESS or for my portfolio. My initial idea was to create a piece about a hippo who conquers her fear and sings on stage not caring what other people think. However, while sketching the illustration, I became more vested with the kids in the foreground and instead wanted the illustration to be focused on them. I had this idea of making these kids as some sort of detectives/explorers who go on strange and whimsical adventures. If I choose that route, this will not be FEARLESS PROMPT piece anymore. That's alright though. I can still use it for my portfolio.

Regardless, I still want to show you, lovely people of SVS, what I made. I would also appreciate it if you can give me some critiques on things I can work on. Thank you

@nyrryl-cadiz Overall this is a nice drawing one thing I noticed is that there is very little space between the hippo and the children so it looks a little crowded

@rcartwright Yeah, I think so, too! I'm planning to shrink the hippo in photoshop. Thank so much for pointing that out.

@nyrryl-cadiz I think it could work for both. That hippo does look fearless

@chip-valecek Thank you. I certainly hope so, too. But since I'm planning to minimize the hippo and shift the focus to the kids, I'm afraid it will downplay the fearlessness of the piece and I'll end up with a mediocre artwork. I want something more impactful. Thanks for the input! It means a lot to me.

I don't know why you can't use it for both! I agree about the hippo being smaller in the background :-0 Very cute picture. Is the little boy sitting supposed to be looking at the girl who is pointing? Maybe his head might be turned a little more her direction?

Values can do a lot to help separate items in a drawing, so you may want to experiment with shading as well.
