This has been the most challenging drawing of the series - i finally set myself a deadline of Sunday at midnight and it really helped me commit and stop making major changes....Procreate keeps track of the time you put into an image....Most of the Oz pieces are coming in at around 10 to 15 hours - this one (embarrassingly), comes in at 67 hours and 1 minute ....Time to move on

@kevin-longueil Where in Procreate does it tell you how much time a painting has taken? I didn’t see that feature. Great painting, by the way!

Hey Kevin, I know you are calling it finished so I hope i'm not being rude by offering a critique, but maybe this will benefit future work. The painting looks great, but when I look at it my focal point goes more towards the flowery thing on her chest area as the level of detail is much higher than the other areas. I feel like I want to focus more on the eyes, but I get pulled away to the detailed pattern not only on the flower but on the cloth on the shoulder as well (i'm guessing you used a texture overlay for it which looks good, but again it's an issue with the contrast in detail.)
Something else I just wanted to mention, was that I thought it's great to have her pointing to the heart to direct your eye that way, but the headdress and the wings are pointing towards her face, so again I feel a battle of where my eyes want to go.
If this was your goal then I retract my comments, but I'm presuming that the key points of the painting are around the face and the heart. Also I hope it doesn't sound like i'm trying to rip your work apart as it's a great piece

@demotlj Thanks Laurie! - to check your time in Procreate 4 just tap the Wrench icon next to "Gallery" - then tap "Canvas" - then tap "Canvas Information" - it will show dimension - pixel count - DPI and a bunch of other things including "Tracked Time" -

@gary-wilkinson Thanks Gary! I really appreciate the feedback!! Your last feedback actually stuck with me and nagged at my consciousness for quite a while. You asked if the mask transformed him into a woman ...which is how I had drawn her....him I mean
My thinking was I was drawing what the Tin Man thought he saw... but your feedback made me think more of what the Wizard might actually have worn - and how he would have fooled the Tin Man - accurate female anatomy would maybe not have been his first choice - I thought that maybe the Wizard might wear something that was very busy and might catch the eye and keep the viewer looking at distractions rather than seeing that something was not quite right around the eyes and mouth and that there was a certain deficit of curves - So I think your feedback is great - it certainly improved the piece from my perspective!! I am calling this done for now but at the back of my mind will be your voice telling me to turn down my texture layer and knock back the cummerbund/bodice thingy a bit Thank you again for taking the time to give excellent feedback!! -

I keep wondering if you are ever planning to go to color. Maybe just a digital watercolor wash with a very limited palette? They would look so beautiful... -
@kevin-longueil I'm glad my feedback helped in some way Kevin. I can see what you mean about the wizard wearing something that would detract from looking at her/his face. When I paint faces I usually spend the most amount of time and detailing around the eyes so people will look mostly in that direction, so I can understand where you are coming from. I would second what @smceccarelli said about a dash of color, even if it was only the heart that was colored (and maybe some of the color spreads from that heart onto the edges of her clothing), but either way great job and i'll look forward to seeing your next piece!
