@gary-wilkinson Yes, but I thought I'd push myself to do a new one. I attended a conference recently where I heard from an art director and literary agent that including a b/w section one your online portfolio is a good thing, particularly if you're interested in illustrated for middle grade books, which I am.

Update I was able to finish inking it, so here's the final version.

Great job everyone! I'm afraid the end of the school year sucked my time away like the machine in the Princess Bride, so I won't be able to enter this month. But I love seeing everyone else's work.

@jody I really like this piece. It's framed really well and the values work great. Just a thought, but it would be interesting to see how the piece would be interpreted if the outline of the mouse/rat was taken away and you used the plants to silhouette it's shape, kind of like an optical illusion.

@gary-wilkinson Thanks fore the complement and for the feedback (I wasn’t sure what kind of reaction I’d get with this group). What a cool idea you suggested. Do you think it would help with my storytelling? A good deal of my work is about life from death ( i.e. rebirth, circle of life). So I was thinking of adding a sequence of images of the animal gradually decomposing and being replaced by more plants.
