Will's Creative Composition and Jake's How to draw everything are great to start with. One is more theoretical the other is more hands-on
I totally get what you mean about the fundamentals. I am self-taught too and always going back to the basics to try to establish it better. In addition to SVS you can check out the fundamental videos at Ctrl+Paint too.Let us know how you proceed.
