I finished my book!!

Pheeeeew I did it! I finished illustrating my first children's book and it left for the press today!

And if you're thinking that was kind of fast... yes, yes it was hahaha... This was a rushed project because they lost some time after another illustrator left the project, and they had to get it done in 3 months to be printed in time for the Quebec city international book fair in April. I've pretty much been doing nothing but illustrating this book for the last 3 months and it's a relief to be done!

I want to thank all of you who gave me advice on the book cover and interior colors It was so helpful and despite being a lot of work in a short period of time, this project has been a great success! I did not think my first book would go so well. All of the staff at the publishing house said they have been very pleasantly surprised by my work and the book turned out more beautiful than expected. They apparently really liked working with me and are already in talks with me for a couple of short Christmas albums to have me illustrate next. I know that how well it went is a direct consequence of all the great information I got from SVS classes, the forum and Will and Jake's videos about children illustration and the children's book industry. A million thanks to all of you!

@Aleksey Thank you! I'm glad to hear it because this book is all about colors - There's a green spread, a pink spread, a yellow, blue, red, grey, etc. It was so fun to work with!

@Aleksey Oh absolutely! It was a unique challenge because each spread was so tone on tone, but I had to make sure every element stood out enough. Also had to figure out how the colors of the characters were going to look when affected by a different color palette. It felt very much like an exercise, in a way!

@AnnaDaviscourt Thank you Anna! It's been a rough ride, working a good 25-30 hours a week on the book and then an additional 25 on contracts that actually pay the bills, I've been overworked and broke at the same time haha... But now I'm celebrating, taking a break and relaxing! I have barely 10 hours of work this week and it is MUCH NEEDED!
