@ShannonBiondi This is great to see them as a set. And I see how you solved some of the problems I had in some of the sketches-thanks for sharing!

Great work! I didn’t end up drawing 100 but did around 20 or so as well and it was neat to see your versions of the same heads I drew.

@Susan-Marks Hi Susan! I'm glad you liked them. I struggled drawing the women a lot more than I did drawing the men. Female noses are tough!! And I need to work on lips. But overall I'm happy and I'm feeling really satisfied at having finished all of them! 😃 I've really enjoyed looking at your progress with each post you add. Looking forward to more!

@JerrySketchyArt Hey! Well first I did a sketch using an orange Col-Erase pencil. I'd sketch maybe 8-12 heads at a time and it would take me an average of 10-15mins per head for the sketch. Then I'd come back later and ink over the heads using a brush pen because I wanted to practice my inking too! While I inked, I tried fixing some things that I spotted were wrong with the sketch...that would take me around 30mins per head. So on average, 45mins per head... My next phase is to add value to them to practice my digital painting skills. Here are 4 I started doing in that way. But this is going to be a more long term project where I do a couple heads here and there to distract myself!IMG_20190312_230705_125.jpg

@ShannonBiondi Thanks for sharing. The time you spent really shows. Great drawings! I've been wanting to experiment with scanning in traditional line work and then doing some digital painting too. People like Scott Roberston get some amazing results with that process.

@JerrySketchyArt yeah I can feel each one getting a little better and faster. It is interesting too as I have a simplified style that I draw people in and figuring it out for the variety of faces has been interesting.

Day 8 - Getting close. I really love the reference that the guy put together for this challenge. It has been great to draw so many different faces.

@JerrySketchyArt Yeah for sure! And the thing I like most about it is that you can optimise your practice by using material in stages. I feel like I improve sketching by doing a base sketch, inking when I ink it traditionally, and digital painting when I scan it into my iPad. It's far more efficient than drawing a new digital sketch and painting that.

@theprairiefox Well done! and yes indeed some days life is too busy for a challenge-so I go with stick with it until done, even if it takes more than the suggested days.

I've been continuing on-how can I pivot the original challenge to do more work-for-me, i.e. use the paradigm to serve my goals. I try to do this with many of these exercises. So I'm working on another 100 heads, this time, drawing characters in my comic-in-development.

I'm also using some comic references (in addition to photo images)--these are taken from work by Doug Holgate, artist for Marissa Meyer's Lunar Chronicles. I'm using these to find an expression I need to convey the emotion in a panel that I need, and then practicing expressing that in my character's head. And continued work on trying to make my characters look consistent.
