@Laurasketches looks great, I can't wait to see how you paint it. It looks like it would have a great light from her.

@Laurasketches love the imagery you have going here. Question, is the mermaid bioluminescent? If so I might suggest a little more reflected light on some of their faces considering how bright the mermaid is, wouldn’t have to be much. Just a thought.

@Adrian-K yes! the mermaid is bioluminescent...or, as I like to think of her...."magic"....and I like your idea of lighting their faces... but, argh, what a challenge! (I'll try...!)
              Thank you for the suggestion...

Ok guys, now I'm stuck... Do I keep the monochromatic scheme going here, but saturate the mermaid? Do I need to add value/color to pirates? (Have I just arrived at the halfway stage of painting where everything is scary??) Also, I am working traditionally, so I have that (only slightly irrational) fear that I'm going to ruin the image in the next step...!? Help!

                      Wow, phenomenal! 🙂
I'm not sure exactly what you're asking about in terms of saturating the mermaid (Are you meaning give her more color? Please forgive my ignorance here...), but whatever happens, I'd keep her value as light as possible. It's looking so good!
