Hey guys, I’m having trouble I hope someone can help me with. I created a mermaid illustration for the May Contest, but when I tried to post it, I kept getting an error message saying the file was too large. I tried resizing the piece in Procreate, but that didn’t help. I gave up & submitted a screenshot of my image. It worked, but I’m afraid it lost quality. Can you guys give me advice on how to avoid this in the future?

Hmm try opening the image in Procreate, tap the wrench icon, then tap share. Their are tons of option to save it under. Maybe try JPEG or TIFF first

@chachaarts Thanks, that’s how I’m doing it, but I’ve been using PNG. Maybe that’s the issue?

That might be it. A PNG is a "lossless" file format. That means the info isn't compressed like it is when you save it as a JPG. So consequently, the file size is much much bigger, even if the dimensions and pixel count seem normal. It may be that the pixel dimensions of your image are fine, but the MB size of the file is too big. Try saving it as a JPG and uploading it again.

As an aside, you can edit your individual post and simply replace the image with an updated version. If you click the tiny 3 vertical dots on the bottom of your post, it'll open up a popup menu where you can select to edit it.

@alicia I can't remember exactly but there was some limit. 800 px on the longest side or something...
              Edit to my advice
              ....this is the actual limit.
Keep the file size to no more than 500 kb.

I always save any images for the forums at 900px at the largest side and I don't seem to have any issues with uploads.
