How To Ink 2.0 Group Runthrough Week 1
-
@demotlj these look great—what pen did you use? Or a variety?
-
@chrisaakins I am trying to imagine teaching anything to 36 high schoolers
-
@BichonBistro I used the fountain pen in the Paper app. I usually use Procreate for digital work but for sketches I sometimes use Paper to keep things simple.
-
@demotlj what? It is not a physical fountain pen on a physical paper? I did not suspect. looking good.
-
@xin-li Paper is a fun app for that kind of thing. No ability to do layers but its tools feel pretty real.
-
@chrisaakins i do not envy you, may i suggest either muji pens, or those gel ink pens or ball point pens to cut costs and also not be sad about kids ruining art supplies
-
@Braden-Hallett I still need to do them!
-
-
@Aleksey we use sharpies
-
@chrisaakins ohh haha nevermind
-
@demotlj I’ve actually used white paint for small corrections. It’s worked for me & isn’t very noticeable
-
@chrisaakins I’ve found the size of the canvas, pixel ratio makes a lot of difference. I’m using. 5k by 7k canvass at 132 dpi. How about you?
-
haha what a thread!
Everybody doing the ink exercises. Love to see that! It is challanging and fun. Maybe I will share mine later.
If You wanna get more in depth into inking I definitely recommend Rendering in pen and ink by Arthur Guptill. Excellent book.
-
I’m so far behind! But I’m still working at it! Here are my basic strokes & hatching!
-
-
@alicia I love the confidence in your lines!
-
@BichonBistro Thank you! I wish I felt the confidence you see! I am soo used to traditional materials & it’s surprisingly different trying to do this digitally! I have to keep myself from cheating and letting the iPad straighten out my lines for me!
-
@alicia I hear ya! I was going to try digital, but the "undo" and line-straightening options might be too tempting
-
Wooo! I'm joining in on this too
-
Here is some initial line practice on paper I did last night. I'm comfortable with ballpoint pen (And If you follow me on Instagram you can see I use it all the time), so I'm going to do most of my practice from here on with a brush pen.
I can see I can work more on my curves. Particularity the long curves. The sensitivity of a brush pen is new, and I will need some consistent practice with it. But overall I'm happy.
