Redid a drawing from a year ago
-
As part of my Helmet & Hound series, I redid a piece that I drew December of last year. Hope you like it!
Progress pics:
And here is the one from last year:
Within the last year, I decided to take my art more seriously. I think I'm making improvements, but definitely still feel like a newbie. I feel that SVS (among other things) has given me a more solid foundation to work off of.

Oh, boy! This is pure magic.
I love the concept and the improvement you have made. Congrates to that piece of art!

This post is deleted! -
The new one is looking really good. I love the lighting.

Great improvement, but what a good idea. We should all find drawings from a year ago and redo them. What a great measure of progress. I love that idea

So beautiful!! There is so much more emotion in your second piece, and the lighting is magic!
-
Absoulutely gorgeous! You can feel the rain. Love it~
-
Really nice. Love how the rain is running down the dog.

@Ace-Connell Yeah, it's sometimes hard to see the progress you make yourself since you're so close to your work. The first piece was one I was proud of, so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw how the second one turned out.
Also, this picture is embarrassing, but I keep it around to remind myself that progress is possible. Behold...the first piece I ever did in Photoshop (March, 2012. I was proud of this one at the time...)

this a great improvement! well done!
-
VERY NICE! wel done!
-
Great piece, i love it!! lots of feeling in it!!

I love the change of the dog pose and the rain effect. I want to know more about the story!
-
Really beautiful! Love the reflections and the light, etc. Really nice.
-
let me know if you ever video your process. I'd love to watch :). thanks.
-
All I can say is...excellent work!

@Naroth-Kean No linear story to this piece. Just an overall feeling I wanted to convey. I do a short write-up about each of my Helmet & Hound pieces on my website. Here is the link to this piece: http://shinjifujioka.com/blog/2015/11/21/everything-has-a-season

@Kris-Knight I've actually tried video-recording software. But since I tend to draw in short bursts, it became a little bothersome to always make sure I was recording. It's still something I'd like to do eventually. Right now I'm just not that disciplined, lol.

The refinement in your painting has definitely increased - I love the reflections, the droplets in the water, and the soft lighting.. Though I also love the sheet rain and the contrast in values in the first one...both very nice pieces
