Okay SVSers, I need help with pricing.

I am providing a price estimate for a work for hire project. I wasn't planning on doing work for hire since self-publishing authors don't have a large budget (and there's potential for them to be micromanagers), but the subject matter is dear to my heart and I would like to have more experience under my belt. I'm willing to go lower in my pricing, but not too low. The project involves one front cover and two single page interiors for a picture book, with time for up to three rounds of major changes. The illustrations will be used on Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the rest of the book. I'm thinking $1,000 for this phase. Thoughts? Pricing is my achilles so any help would be most welcome.

@Laurel-Aylesworth that sounds good to me? I really have NO experience when it comes to book illustrations. I do like that you left room for three revisions. That should help! Best of luck!

@Laurel-Aylesworth sounds fair. Iād say go for it

@Laurel-Aylesworth This sounds good! I like that you know your worth and respect your time. I've done things like 8 DOUBLE page spreads for a similar amount in the past (for a real publishing company too!) and the workload was way too much for this price.

Alright then. Just hit "send." Even if I don't get the job, it was a valuable exercise in writing out a proposal....so I'm ready for the next time

@Laurel-Aylesworth Good luck!
