AUGUST CONTEST: Dragonfly
-
@Molambo If there was just one thread it would become to large with comments and wouldn't keep everyone crits organized that well.
-
@Chip-Valecek yeah might be true. discourse or whatever softwareyou use here with the endless pages is not good for such stuff. traditional forums with pages would fit better for such things.

Hi everyone
This is my first time entering this contest. So fun but so difficult when everyone is so god
I made this piece, thinking of two dragonfly-girls sharing a secret, what is she telling her? You tell me -
@chrisaakins so cute and nice textures in the leaf in the foreground
-
Three dragonflies carefully carrying their human babies on a high flying adventure! I want to be the one peeking over the side..why does everyone want to fly?
-
Hey everyone, here's my post for the August contest! I'm really enjoying the entries that have been submitted so far, great work everyone!
-
Hi everyone and happy August! Here is my entry for the dragonfly contest. It was definitely a challenge to think of a story concept for this one. There are already some great entries and I look forward to seeing all of them.
-
@Graham-Williams This one made me smile it is so darn cute!!
-
Hi everyone, this is my entry for the contest! I used a poem as inspiration, I had fun doing it! Great entries so far, congratulations to everyone!

Here is my entry for this month! Great entries so far, I canβt wait to see all the awesome WIPβs get posted.
-
@Jordi-Ventura Aahhh I love how you executed the dragonfly! And your character is adorable! Absolutely loving the textures as well. Well done!
-
Already so many great takes on this! It was kinda inevitable I would be going down the meganeura (giant prehistoric dragonfly type insect) route on this one - I have two young kids who are in that real intense prehistory/dinosaur phase! So I ended up thinking Jurassic Park for insects, mashed up with a vintage travel poster for said destination...and here we are. If you look closely youβll see that the near future for our tourists looks similarly...uh...exciting...to the original...!
I donβt know why the quality appears so bad on the preview of the image in this post, I guess maybe it is just too big and condensed down, but if you click on it you can see it at a higher quality!

I am trying a early chapter book genre for this month.

Here is my entry!

Zoe had never seen a fire breathing dragonfly before.
Updated- The coloring was bothering me so I touched it up.
-
This post is deleted! -
*Updated post. I wasn't happy with the main character's wings so I did a bit of adjusting.
Here's my entry for Dragonfly. A shameful overuse of textures but it's my first illustration practising Procreate on an iPad 4 - so please go easy on me! -
@StudioLooong this looks so good. Your lighting looks wonderful. Makes for a nice silhouette.

@chrisaakins thanks
