      Hi there,
So a little back story about my doodle. I had one of those ah ha moments where something happened in real life and I thought it would be a funny cartoon so I drew it. It was one of those moments where you really love what you are doing and you don’t want to stop. so I’m holding the my baby while trying to finish my drawing. (A bit tricky that) Anyways I got it finished and was really happy with it, I took the gesture class because I usually have really stiff, posed characters when I draw. I thought the gesture turned out pretty good On this one so I guess the class was worth it. The trouble I’m having is with the bugs I couldn’t find a reference for a swarm of bugs so I just kinda guessed what that would look like... Then my husband tells me very nicely that the swarm of bugs looks like a fart. Nice. So I turned the swarm around so it points the other way, I’m not sure if that’s better or what I should do with it. 😕 What do you guys think?
This is my first time posting anything on any kind of critique so I’m a little nervous but I know I’m not going to improve if I don’t put stuff out there. So this is me being brave.C1E1450D-BD0C-4F25-90AF-B6D1B1984A89.jpeg

@Ashley-Munn I think it looks good now. Tell your husband its a bit too high for a fart 😉

@Ashley-Munn In the first drawing it looks like the swarm is flying away (wouldn't have said fart 😅). The second one seems more accurate since the slimer end of the swarm is dragging behind. I would maybe add some really fast insects that are faster than the swarm and are about to sting her.

The gesture did turn out really well! You can be proud of yourself! 👏😊 You can clearly see how she is frantically running away.

If you are going to draw it again, maybe take the time and see how a background would fit into your piece?

          Keep up the good work,
          Aisleen

I think you captured the moment successfully! That is hard to do. 😀 I remember Winnie the Pooh has images of bee swarms, like this one https://www.pinterest.com/pin/852376666968382525/ Instead of a cloud shape there are a few larger detailed bees and then the bees that are further away are smaller oval shapes with much less detail. Hope that is helpful 😀 🙂

@aska Thanks I’m so glad it doesn’t look like a fart!

@jennaivy Thank you this is so helpful! I knew I’d seen something like this in a cartoon somewhere but couldn’t remember where.

@Aisleen Thank you Aisleen for encouraging me your advice was very helpful, I didn’t even think to add a background I’ll be sure to give it a try. I was really worried about posting but I’m glad I did because now I want to try harder to improve. 😊
