@tamisha Thank you. Yeah, I'm leaning towards traditional, and the artist Aeppol. That's the closest to how I'd like my work to look; gentle feeling, tells a story, bright cheerful colors, and a lot of nature involved.
I think first I need to work on discipline though, as I hardly ever draw anymore. I spend more time writing the stories than I do sketching.
@eli I'm glad you like it! If I had to guess I'd say her art is a combination of traditional and digital. I say that because I haven't seen any original art for sale, only prints.
@jason-bowen Hi Jason..I'm using Windows Surface pro 4. wishing for a cintiq but feeling undeserving just yet. I'll persevere! Meanwhile, I avoided it for now by scanning in my pencil drawing. 🙂 Thanks for the help everyone.
@zak Gary is correct, if you cancel then your membership is active until the end of that month. Note, if you are on the old price of $14.99 and you cancel, you won't be able to resign up at that price again. We have a TON of content we are filming for this year too. Just thought I'd mention that so you are aware of it. The current subscription price is $24.99.
I like to have my line work on top set to multiply (I change the color of the line work so it's more of a dark red or orange rather than black I'll also make the pixels a bit transparent by adjusting the opacity of the layer if my line work is too dark). I work below on regular layers as much as possible. Then when all my color choices are made and worked out I'll have layers above the line art to polish. The line on top seems to work better for me especially if I have shaded or hatched with the line work. Having changed the line work to a dark red or orange helps those shadow areas blend in with the color below.
@eric-castleman that should make a fine computer. Bought a certified refurbished Dell with roughly the same specs for about $600 a month ago off Amazon. I don't own a Cintiq yet but Photoshop CS works great. Plenty of power and storage. Paid about 3x that for my last quad core Pentium system that I built and it lasted about 10 years... Good luck!
I just got a Serta (brand chair) for a gift and it is amazing how much better my back feels after a few hours of painting. I also stand up a lot when I'm doing rough sketches on my tablet ( I also have a standing desk which is great for switching it up after sitting for a few hours)
Thanks @Gary-Wilkinson ! It's definitely a learning process!! All these little tips are really helpful (and I'm going to go through the Photoshop classes on SVS--I just wanted to use it to clean up a drawing I did for class and not have to re-draw it).
Thanks, @Chip-Valecek I should ask them--I just wondered if there is a proper protocol for this sort of thing. I hope they did sell and help the cause!
