Working on this piece on my spare time.Portrait of a company of visually random fellas that should not have come together!

All the cute little colour thuuuuumbs. Working on trying to define a style. Particularly for large clumps of similar objects.

I'm gearing up for Inktober 2020 by doing some redraws of my sketches from Inktober 2018 (the first time I took part). I wanted to see how things have progressed in the last 2 years since I've developed a better drawing habit and worked with ink much more. Plus I wanted to give myself more time and space to work with the same subjects. I picked this fan art piece of Harry because the original sketch was the last drawing I made before trying and switching to a brush pen (instead of felt and technical pens). I love looking at these two and seeing how my rendering style calmed down and stopped being so busy. Basically, practice really pays off!

@ajillustrates That's a really cool idea.

A friend of mine suggested making a coloring book. I tried making a page. Wow. It’s a lot harder than it looks. Tangents everywhere! But it was fun. I think I might take her up on it.
I colored it to see if it would make for a good cover. I kinda like it even though it’s not my usual style.

I'm working on my sketches for Inktober. I have 12 sketches posted to my Instagram account so far. I'm a day behind, but I plan to catch up later this week.

Been away for a while – getting back on the horse with this jungle themed illustration. :-]

During the LightExpo event during the weekend, I had my portfolio reviewed by Pattrick O'keefe. He was the art director at Sony Animation during the Spiderman into the Spiderverse production. It got me thinking a lot about my art and where I want to go from here. I quickly sat down and painted while thinking about the positive and negative feedback I received, this is what came out...
SVS classes have definitely help me improve but having a full-time job and other responsibilities sure make it extra hard to reach those magical 10,000 hours to master illustration.

@Braden-Hallett I love your style and also I love how soft this looks. Did you make your own brushes for it or which ones did you use to get that texture?
-
I finally finished my flash card project for my kids. All I need to do now is print them and figure out what project to start next. I had already done a zebra for “Z” but it didn’t seem to fit the mood of finishing the alphabet and celebrating it so I came up with this one. Celebrating and congratulating the child for making it to the end and the illustrator for finally wrapping it up.

@Mary-Toth thanks
I use custom brushes in corel painter.
-
Practicing drawing my character Lio in procreate. Loving the program so far.
Here’s a WIP.

I've been working through the vehicle design course. I just finished up the 2nd assignment, and decided to base the "vehicles" around Betelgeuse! Had lots of fun with making these designs, haha.
-
@ajillustrates that's terrific -to see your own progress shine!
-
@PieterVanDerBeek this is great, though I really like the first sketch phase the best.
-
@josegalue25 this is really nicely polished and eye catching, thanks for sharing!
-
I love seeing what everybody has been working on. This was a piece I originally did as a watercolor but I wasn’t happy with it so I redid it as a digital piece.

Another redraw of an Inktober 2018 sketch. I really like the original, but I felt I could improve the pose and proportions, and put more of my own style into it. My daughter is completely stoked to get this one on her wall!
