Been a little bit since I've done one of these!

My take is that the halloween feast is some poor kid that's been snatched by vampires and his friends are about to bust some heads.

I had a pretty clear image in my head, but I still tried to hammer out some thumbnails.

Here's the thumbnail I went with

And here's my first pass at a colour study, trying to keep my shape language clear as well as the values separated.

That’s a different take on it I love the twist that it’s actually the bad guys’ feast. Glad the boys friends are about to save him!

That hand's been buggin' me too. I think I'm fine with its owner being out of frame, but there's DEFINITELY something about it that's off. I think it'll be better entirely without. I may replace it with some of the 'feast's' pirate costume accoutrement (like a scimitar pointing at the girls under the table).

I'd completely forgotten about that You're right, though. Compared to a disembodied head sitting on a gravestone this IS tame.
