Sort of a new student

Hi everyone, I am in Massachusetts. I am a middle school STEM teacher for my day job. I joined SVS for 2 months last summer, then paused the classes to deal with hybrid/remote teaching madness. Any teachers here will know exactly what I'm talking about when I say that teaching during this time has consumed every waking (and sleeping) moment of my life. The plan was to return to SVS again in June, but it turns out that my sanity can't wait for summer, even if I can only manage to do an hour of lessons each week. So here I am.

I have taken illustration and graphic design courses before, and have illustrated for a self-published author and a book packager. I am a member of SCBWI. I also do plein air sketching/painting when I can. Pre-pandemic, I ran a monthly in-person crit group for local visual artists for several years, so I can appreciate the value of peer feedback. I am looking forward to interacting with everyone here.

Here's my website: studiojcd.com and a sample is below. You'll probably recognize the topic from the challenge from a couple months ago. I wasn't subscribed when I did it, and finished late, so I didn't submit it to the challenge. This was done with photoshop over pencil sketch.

Hi Jenn!
I'm a teacher as well. Pre-K-5th grade Art, but I've also done middle school art as well. I hear you about this madness sucking up time. I was hoping to participate in more of the monthly art challenges but time gets eaten up with all the planning for school. Hoping to be able to participate more in the up coming months!
