Adding values to Sprout illo after Critique Arena
-
Hi all,
I'm just posting this after @Lee-White asked for me to add value and repost on the forum during the Critique Arena. I've not really done any inking but I've realised I enjoy it so I've had a go
I wanted to change quite a few things that were bugging me so thought I would take the chance now, but I ended up redrawing it all. I still can't draw people or faces and the girl at the top STILL has a massive chin.
I've tried to make this more of an ink drawing rather then just a black and white line drawing which my original was. I've been looking at insta inktober posts and watched a bit of Jake's inktober bootcamp but I'm very new to this technique so all critique very welcome. I may have lost the focus now I have redrawn and added value as it's a very busy illustration. I would LOVE to simplify and loosen my style to help ink better (and make my life easier
).
Thank you
Liz

@lizardillo Wow! It’s wonderful! If this had been the one you submitted it would have been a winner for sure. I love the little surprised worm’s face. “what just happened?” Haha! I love your style. Your sense of humor always shines through.

@lizardillo I really like it!! I think the faces look great and three giant is fun!
The full value version really pops

@chrisaakins thank you Chris
I always like to try and make someone smile. Work needed on rendering techniques. I’m not sure I’m meant to add value to everything, it’s all a bit mid-tone, but it’s definitely something I would like to work on. I was in awe of everyone’s inktober, congrats on seeing it through so well.

@carlianne thank you, I’m so glad you can see an improvement. Still a lot to learn with this

We are all on that path FoReVer.
